Ashe County Partnership for Children funds three Smart Start activities through the Appalachian District Health Department .

Comprehensive Health Services
Provides a complete physical exam, health history, developmental screening, immunizations, and referral to a specialist (if needed) for Ashe County children ages five and under. Services are performed at the Health Department or at the child care centers and homes.

Dental Program for Children
Provides dental screening, application of dental varnish, and referral to a dentist for Ashe County children ages five and under. Services are performed at the Health Department or at the child care centers and homes.

Post Partum Home Visits
Offers preventive health care to all newborn infants and their mothers, including a complete health assessment and information on development, safety, and continued care for both mother and baby.
